Evening Hymn

When day has breathed his last gold ray
And light has faded into dark,
The moon in radiance reaches down
Upon the sleeping, slumbering world,
And gently touches as it falls
Each lost and wandering bark.

And while the world is sleeping still,
The lonely traveler lifts his eyes
And on the moon his heart attends.
For in her light his soul is free,
And in her kindly radiance, now,
He finds his home at last.
